If you’re looking for recreation, you’ve come to the right place. With our three Kampgrounds, day use area and Wilderness kamping, all accessible from Ellis Road off Highway 88, this is a Kamper’s Delight. All of our Kampgrounds and the day-use area sit on the Mokelumne River, which offers swimming, kayaking, fishing and so much more. If it’s hiking or mountain biking that lights your fire, you’ll love the endless trails here. Be sure to get up to the Salt Springs Reservoir and the mighty Salt Springs Dam to see where it all starts, and have a picnic while you’re at it!

Our Kampgrounds


Our Kampgrounds fit somewhere in-between an RV park and wilderness camping (which is also available here). It’s pack-it-in, pack-it-out with the only amenity being pit-toilets. What we do have is camping right on the Mokelumne River, located in the Stanislaus and Eldorado Forests, and close to everything these forests have to offer as well as nearby to many historic points of interest.

Mokelumne Campground


This is the first campground encountered on the way to the Salt Springs Reservoir. It has 16 camp sites and two pit toilets available. Only Mokelumne has RV parking (8 sites).

Moore Creek


About a half mile up the road from Mokelumne Campground. Cross the Mokelumne River to reach the campground. It has 14 campsites spread along the river as well as two pit toilets.

White Azalea


Up the road from Moore Creek, White Azalea is the last campground on the way to Salt Springs Reservoir. The smallest of the three, it has 6 campsites available and one pit toilet.

Naked and Afraid


Did you ever wonder where they came up with the idea for the hit TV show Naked and Afraid? Well, our bet is that it was hatched after visiting our Wilderness Area. If you’re the kind of individual who wants to challenge your skills, then our Wilderness Area is a great place to start. No mechanical vehicles or power tools of any kind are allowed. You’ll have to pack in your gear and either walk, paddle or go by horseback.
